The 2009 Detroit Tigers will begin their run to the World Series in October as the AL Central Division winner and look to move past the Conference finals for fifth World Series Birth. There was some talk of a letdown since the franchise decided not to pick up Shortstop Edgar Renteria’s contract but the team has rallied to finish in first place in their division.
Led by pitchers Justin Verlander (264 Strikeouts) and Rick Porcello and relievers Zach Miner, Bobby Seay and Brandon Lyon, the Tigers will take a strong pitching team into the playoffs.
